Agricultural Literacy Leader Award
 
Wisconsin Agriculture in the Classroom in conjunction with the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Foundation is proud to honor outstanding volunteers whose passion and talent serve and grow agriculture literacy in Wisconsin 4K-12 curriculum, classrooms, and educator development. 

Ideal Nominees/Candidates: A volunteer or volunteer-driven program that serves Wisconsin grades 4K-12 educators, students, and schools in growing awareness, discovery, and knowledge of agriculture literacy. (May include agriculture educators and/or FFA Chapters, 4-H Clubs, other orgs.)

Application Judging: Nominations will be reviewed and selected by at least three judges, at least two of which will be WFBF staff.

Nomination Application Questions:

  • Summary of Activities: Summarize the work completed by the nominee and the collaboration between the nominee and AITC. Describe how the work and/or service supports agricultural literacy efforts and the mission of Wisconsin Agriculture in the Classroom: “Increasing agricultural literacy through PreK-12 education.”
  • Innovation: Describe innovative ways in which the nominee implements agricultral literacy programing while maintaining relevancy in agriculture and education.
  • Impact: Describe the outcomes (i.e., what was created or provided) and impacts (i.e., changes in knowledge, attitude and/or behavior) of the nominee's work in agricultural literacy. Be as specific as possible; include events, programs, number of participants and any documented impacts including anecdotal results or observations.

Award Honors: Agriculture Literacy Leader Award winners will be honored during the 2025 Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation Annual Meeting at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells. Winners will receive complimentary conference registration, hotel, and meals at the 2025 Wisconsin Farm Bureau Annual Meeting.

Awardees will be formally recognized through press releases, in Wisconsin Ag in the Classroom e-newsletter, on Wisconsin Agriculture in the Classroom website and social media, and WFBF Rural Route member magazine.  Award winner will be Wisconsin's nominee for the National Ag in the Classroom "Partnership in Agricultural Literacy" Award, due in February 2026.  PAL Award winners will be honored at the 2026 National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference June 2026.

Eligibility: Any volunteer or volunteer-driven organization may be nominated for the award.  Nominees (individuals or organizations) can be self-nominated or nominated by a third party. All nominees will need the endorsement of their respective County Agriculture in the Classroom Coordinator OR County Farm Bureau President. The endorsement will be sent via email to either the County Agriculture in the Classroom Coordinator or the County Farm Bureau President upon receipt of the nominee’s application.

Due Date: Online applications are due February 15, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.
