SCKLS Collection Development Support

A SCKLS member library is eligible to request collection development support. SCKLS subscribes to EBSCO HW Wilson Core Collections and can make information from them available to your library at no charge. Core Collections are impartial, authoritative guides that help librarians build and maintain well-rounded collections of the most highly recommended reference, nonfiction, and fiction books. Core Collections includes four recommendations levels to help you make informed decisions on which books your library should buy, repurchase or weed.

Children's Core Collection
A collection development and curriculum support resource for anyone who works with children’s books.

Graphic Novels Core Collection
Especially useful as librarians build graphic novel collections.

Fiction Core Collection
For libraries of all sizes and types navigating the vast adult fiction market.

Middle & Junior High Core Collection

Nonfiction Core Collection
Provides guidance for adult nonfiction collections including plays and poetry.

Senior High Core Collection
Covers young adult books and adult books with teen appeal, making it perfect for anyone who works with young adult literature collections.

Core Collections also complements NoveList https://kslib.info/NoveList in supporting readers’ advisory.
