Commercial Photo/Film - Permit Application (Outdoor)

Commercial filming and photography work in Asheville is largely permitted under the same conditions as other outdoor special event uses of public property. A permit is usually not required for small-scale projects that do not require the reservation of public space, closure of streets/sidewalks/parking, use of generators, fire, added structures, or unusual scenes. However, when permits are required, please complete this application form at least two weeks in advance.

Application Fee: $100 (complete submission received at least two weeks in advance)

Application Fee: $150 (expedited review for submissions received less than two weeks in advance)

Once you have submitted your application, please call us at 828-259-5738 to make payment and begin processing.

Additional Fees: Added costs will be incurred/invoiced separately for secondary permits, property reservations, city support resources, and other services. More information can be found in the Outdoor Special Event Guide.
