POSITION TITLE:   Computer Hardware/Software Engineer

JOB SUMMARY:  This position is an opportunity to directly impact the state of the art as a contributing technical member of a dynamic small business specializing in metal additive manufacturing (AM) products and technologies. The position requires a self-starter with the ambition to tackle difficult technical challenges in a results-oriented collaborative environment. Attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, personal integrity, and commitment to quality work are a must. A flexible schedule, informal environment, and opportunities to demonstrate and expand technical skills provide a setting for creative, impactful work.


  • Lead/manage/support full-lifecycle software development tasks to meet project/product goals
  • Representative tasks include software architecting/coding/testing, development/design/testing of computer hardware components for AM systems and sensors, integrating and modifying various hardware/software configurations, providing training and technical support for products, etc.
  • Break down complex problems into smaller, more manageable components using Agile development, DevOps tools, and/or continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) methods
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, operating instructions, and security requirements
  • Other duties as required to meet project needs


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering, software engineering, or related field
  • Strong competency in high-level computer languages (Python, Matlab, C++/C#, etc.)
  • Must be US citizen or permanent resident


  • Master’s degree in computer science or engineering, software engineering, or related field
  • Experience/certification in Agile development, DevOps tools, CI/CD, release management tools
  • Experience as member of multidisciplinary hardware/software product development team
  • Experience with FPGA integration and/or programming
  • Experience with data analysis techniques using Matlab, Python, or C#
  • Specific skills for project needs (list below): Experience using/testing/coding/configuring AMSENSE® for LPBF process monitoring


Employment Type:  Full-time (salary with benefits)

Work Shift:  Daytime / office hours

Travel:  5-10% for customer/partner site visits and technical meetings
