JOB SUMMARY: This position is an opportunity to directly impact the state of the art as a senior technical member of a dynamic small business specializing in metal additive manufacturing (AM) products and technologies. The position requires an experienced professional with excellent technical and communication skills to lead AM technology/product development in a results-oriented collaborative environment. PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead/support research projects to advance existing/new technology developments
- Identify/support teaming and partnership opportunities to promote technical collaborations
- Assess readiness for advanced technology demonstrations and transition opportunities
- Define and execute technical tasks to meet project/product milestones
- Lead/support proposals to secure government/industry/internal funding
- Present research results at sponsor meetings and technical conferences
- Document research results in project reports and scientific publications
- Adhere to all safety protocols, operating instructions, and security requirements
- Other duties as required to meet project needs
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Ph.D. or equivalent in relevant scientific or engineering field
- Minimum 5 years as principal investigator on externally-funded portfolio of AM research projects
- Proven subject matter expertise as demonstrated by patents, presentations, and/or publications
- Must be US citizen or permanent resident
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Supervisory or team leadership/mentorship experience
- Additive manufacturing experience in industrial setting
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Employment Type: Initially part time (hourly), anticipate full time later in 2021 pending funding
Work Shift: Daytime / office hours
Travel: 10-25% for customer/partner site visits and technical meetings
Physical Requirements: Must have adequate vision, hearing, motor skills, and ability to lift 25 lbs unassisted to support experiments in research/manufacturing setting
