SDC Professional Coloration Qualifications

Associateship of the Society of Dyers and Colorists is a recognition of academic acheivement. It is availoable by examination or exemption with the necessary criteria (see below the applicaiton form) being met. This is the start of a SDC's recognition of a candidates cheivements in the industry.

Please note all applications will be reviewed quarterly with outcomes anticipated to be communicated to applicants at the end of each fiscal quarter.

Following admission as an Associate you may apply for Chartered Colorist (CCol) status.

You are required to maintain your SDC membership to retain your qualification.

£50 is payable with your application, £25 is returnable in the event of a non-successful application.

Rules of the Society of Dyers and Colourists
Associateship of the Society
 
An Associate shall:
    1. Be a member of the Society at the time of application
    2. Have one of the following:
      1. Passes in the prescribed examinations
      2. An appropriate honours degree or higher degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited University or College, e.g. NARIC recognised university honours degree
      3. Any other qualification deemed by the Society to be of similar level and content awarded as a result of examinations conducted or supervised by a professional society
    3. Have had at least four years' experience in an appropriate colour related occupation from which period a reduction of not more than two years may be allowed to a candidate holds a degree with appropriate colour content
    4. Have demonstrated his/her professional competence in applying his/her knowledge of colour either
      1. At interview, or
      2. By the submission of written evidence, such as a dissertation on an approved subject
    5. Have submitted his/her application on the official form obtainable from the Society
    6. Have paid the prescribed fees
    7. Have satisfied the Trustee Board the he/she is worthy of the status
    8. Be entitled on Award to use the designation ASDC
