LAPA Board of Directors Application

Thank you for your interest in running for LAPA's Board of Directors. Please review the position descriptions below.   
 

Please note that all nominees must be a Fellow member of LAPA and current on membership dues. A Fellow member is an NCCPA-certified physician assistant who is also a Fellow member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA).

Nominations will be taken starting February 3, 2025 and nominations should be submitted by March 15, 2025.  No nominations will be accepted after that time.

 
 

President Elect

The President-Elect serves a two-year term, automatically succeeding to the office of President after the second year. During this time, they are expected to actively collaborate with and seek guidance from all board members to ensure a smooth transition and effective leadership. 

 

Vice President

The Vice President serves a one-year term and assumes the President’s duties in their temporary absence. Additionally, the Vice President is responsible for organizing and overseeing all annual elections, with support from the Secretary/Treasurer. 

Secretary/Treasurer

The Secretary/Treasurer serves a two-year term, combining the responsibilities of both roles. This individual is responsible for recording minutes of all meetings, managing organizational communications, and notifying members of upcoming meetings. Additionally, they must maintain accurate financial records, process payments with the President’s approval, and document all receipts and expenditures on behalf of the organization. 

Director at Large

The Director-at-Large serves a one-year term and fulfills the general duties of a LAPA officer. In addition, they are responsible for reviewing the LAPA Constitution and Bylaws and submitting recommendations to the Board of Directors. While this review is conducted on an as-needed basis, a comprehensive evaluation is required at least once every two years. 

Delegates to AAPA

Delegates to the AAPA serve a one-year term and are responsible for representing LAPA members at the House of Delegates (HOD) during the AAPA conference the following year. All Fellow Members are eligible to serve as delegates.
