One Night Only
Live at Carnegie Hall- Again!
Carnegie Hall is pleased to present the second annual One Night Only student showcase! This amazing performance opportunity concludes with a live showcase for families and friends on the stage of the Hamilton Auditorium at Carnegie Hall on Thursday, March 13th, 2025 at 7 p.m.

Here's how it works:

-This is a full scale production event, and you don't have to play an instrument or sing to particpate. One Night Only will be supported by a full student stage crew, including a sound tech shadow, a light tech shadow, and up to two students MCs, all under the guidance of the professional team at Carnegie Hall.

- Any student in grades 6-12 currently attending public, private or homeschool in Greenbrier County is eligible to particpate.

-Entries will be accepted for both vocalists and instumentalists, as either a soloist or as an ensemble. Any student that enters as part of an ensemble is also eligible to submit a separate, individual entry as a soloist.

-Registration will be open from November 15, 2024 through February 15, 2025, and video entries can be submitted at any time during this window. Entries will not be accepted after 5 pm on Saturday, February 15th. No exceptions.

-All submissions will be scored by a panel of independent judges and will be based on a variety of standardized factors, including tone, rhythm, timing, technique, expression and engagement. Scoring information for each entry will be provided after completion and may include judge's notes or comments.

-Students that are selected to particpate at the live performance will be required to attend a full rehearsal on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, in additon to the performance on Thursday, March 13th. If you require an accompanist for a performance piece, please make sure they are available to attend both the rehearsal and performance dates.

-One Night Only is a ticketed event, and all students are encouraged to bring family and friends to support their performance. Each student that submits an entry for the event will recieve one complimentary ticket to the performance, and must contact our Box Office to reserve their free seat. Additional tickets will be available for students and the general public at $5 each. Tickets will go on sale through the Carnegie Hall website on Monday, February 17th.

Performance Piece Information

Some helpful tips for your One Night Only video submissions
*Make sure you are fully visible and centered on the screen while recording your selected piece and that all particpants can clearly be seen while performing. This is just as important for solo musicians as it is for larger groups.
*Start your recording by identifying yourself and the name of the piece you will be performing.
*If you have an accompanist performing with you, please tell us who they are.
*Limit your video submission to no more than three minutes, with the understanding that the judges may only listen to a portion of that time. This is the time limit for the live performance as well.
* Select a piece that you know well and that you are comfortable performing, rather than a piece that you think will impress the judges.
* If the music for your piece is not public domain, has not been purchased from an approved source or does not qualify for copyright infringement protection under the "fair use" principle, there is a risk of liability for using the material. To avoid these risks, there are many "authorized" services on the Internet that allow consumers to purchase copyrighted works online.
*Smile, project, and be confident!
